JG Brown MD FRCS
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
Ian Brown was appointed a consultant in Orthopaedic Surgery in 1991 and specialises in hip and knee surgery.
His early interests included spinal surgery however he transferred from his post as Senior Lecturer in Queens University Belfast to a full time clinical post first at Musgrave Park Hospital and at the Ulster Hospital Dundonald, in order to further the development of a specialist joint revision (or “re do”) service in Northern Ireland. This service has been set up to cope with worn out or infected joints and has been facilitated by the introduction of bone grafting techniques and the accreditation of Northern Ireland’s first Bone Bank. The introduction of specialist instrumentation has led to a truly versatile service.
In February 2018 work at Musgrave Park and the Ulster Hospital ceased. Surgery has continued at the Ulster Independent Clinic in the private sector. The provision of medico-legal reporting continues at both the Ulster Independent Clinic and Medical Associates.
